"We live not according to reason, but according to fashion."-Seneca
February is a month filled with indulgences. Fine dining, chocolates and your lover's sweet nothings for Valentine's Day. Craziness, beads and king cake for Mardi Gras. Indulging and did we mention fattening? At PR, our favorite fat-free February indulgence is this month's high fashion. Whether it was on the red carpet, in New York last week or London this week; a girl just can't get enough. Here are six of our fashion week favorites.
1) Bibhu Mohapatra--Fall Ready to Wear (New York)
Indulge in: Peacock feathered loom wool and edgy evening wear
Mohapatra (if you're wondering about the unique name, he is Indian) presented his debut collection in NYC to great fanfare. The designer's dream was to dress Frieda Pinto for the Oscars. Although it didn't happen, we wouldn't be surprised to see his unique designs on celebs soon.
2) Naeem Kham--Fall Ready to Wear (New York)
Indulge in: Kashmiri paisleys and glamorous skirts
Khan's collection this year is being touted as one of his strongest.
3) Jason Wu--Fall Ready to Wear (New York)
Indulge in: Pretty frocks and First Lady style
He's pretty much a rock star and his polished collection inspired by fairy tales proved why he's drawing such famous fans.
4) Luella Bartley-- Fall Ready to Wear (London)
Indulge in: Punk meets school girl chic
The collection was somber in colors but whimsical in style.
5) Marc Jacobs--Fall Ready to Wear (New York)
Indulge in: Forget gloom and doom economy. Hello 80's
No NY Fashion Week wrap-up is complete without Marc Jacobs. The collection was filled with neon colors, big shoulders and great accessories.
6) Oscar fashion
Indulge in: Old Hollywood glamour
The 81st Academy Awards didn't shy away from big glamour. And we mean big. The PR gals definitely gasped a little at the big hoop skirts of Penelope Cruz's vintage Pierre Balmain and Sarah Jessica Parker's Dior couture. But amongst all the big, we found four favorites. Natalie Portman's pretty in pink Rodarte, Frieda Pinto's John Galliano, Anne Hathaway's Armani Prive and Taraji P. Henson's Roberto Cavalli. Swoon.
