Lately I've become more of a necklace person than an earrings person because my day job involves a headset which interferes with jingly earrings. The most I've spend on a necklace is $89 and it was on this necklace. I think $80 is my limit going forward. Of course all of the ones I love cost much more than that, but I just won't sleep at night if I spend more than one bill on a necklace. http://www.stelladot.com/shop/en_us/p/jewelry/necklaces/necklaces-all/kimberly-necklace
Any recommendations on basic care of these fabulous pcs?

oh and one more question - any recommendations on how to wear a necklace with a button-down collared shirt? only short necklaces?

Hi Amee! Love the necklace...it's so cute and will go with everything. I think it was money well spent:) Basic care is a good question. I hang my necklaces on a cork board..I found that they are less prone to breaking and damage that way. Also, save the sleeves these necklaces are shipped in or you get when you purchase them, because they are perfect for when you are traveling. I have broken too many necklaces because I just threw it in my toiletry bag without protection. Also, cleaning if they get gunky is best with mild soap and water. If you are talking tarnish and stuff, you'll have to google that.

The necklace with a button down is another really good question because I struggle with it too. If you want to be a little bit more edgy and fashion forward, you can button your shirt up all the way for a short necklace. That also works well if you're layering with a sweater. So, shirt buttoned up, necklace under the collar and on top of the sweater neckline.
If that's too buttoned up for you, I think it still looks good inside the shirt, peaking out. For long necklaces, a button down is okay if it's a really light material like silk or chiffon. I think it gets bulky to have a long necklace with chambray, cotton or flannel.
And that is my dissertation on necklaces:)

i'm hoping the statement necklace never goes out of style. i love jcrew ones but have a hard time spending hundreds of dollars on one. they have great ones at jcrew factory too for like $30.
