"Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having a scoop of ice cream fall from the cone."-Jim Fiebig
With summer now hotter than the cast of Gossip Girl, many are flocking to the nearest ice cream parlor for a sweet escape from the heat. For those lucky enough to live in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area during the summer, the local gourmet ice cream parlor Milwaukee Joe's offers unique and delicious ice cream for the serious ice cream lover. I was introduced to Milwaukee Joe's by my ice cream junkie friend whose love for ice cream transcends consciousness (he is known to sleep walk in the middle of the night and slam an entire pint of ice cream). When my friend described Milwaukee Joe's as "insane", "obscene" and literally the best ice cream he had ever had, I knew the recommendation should not be taken lightly.
A trip to the throwback ice cream joint did not disappoint; the ice cream tasted home made, creamy and utterly delicious. My personal favorite was the Almond Joy--creamy coconut ice cream studded with roasted almonds, coconut, and semi-sweet chocolate chunks. With unique flavors such as: Grand Cayman Coconut Cream Pie, Red Hot Jelly Belly, Dr. Pepper, Baklava, Wild Turkey Pecan Pie, Rum Raisin, Cop Stop (coffee ice cream with Krispy Kreme donuts), Elvis diet (banana and peanut butter), and the decadent Grandma Fred's NY Cheesecake, there is a flavor for everyone. These original flavors, high-quality ingredients, and general quirky ambiance (a cardboard life size Elvis hangs from the back of the bathroom door) sets Milwaukee Joe's apart from the typical ice cream parlor.
Milwaukee Joe's has locations at Inwood Village, South Lake Town Center, and the Mid-cities.
