"If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then give him only two of them."-Phil Pastoret
This Christmas morning as you unwrap presents and bake all those delicious holiday human treats, don't forget about something special for your faithful furry friend. Here is an easy baked homemade dog treat using peanut butter that any pooch would love. With all the recent concerns regarding the safety of dog treats, the small amount of effort needed to make these (using this recipe) was well worth it and were approved by my four legged taste tester. I have to admit, at first during mixing, the recipe didn't seem so bad by human standards either (oats, flour, peanut butter) but you will definitely be reminded that you are making dog treats when you get a whiff of adding in that chicken broth which apparently is the secret ingredient that gets the tails wagging. For the bone shape, I used 3 inch cookie cutters. If you use a different, bigger cutter, just be sure to bake your treats a little longer. These treats (or the ingredients and cookie cutter packaged up) also makes a great last minute gift for your favorite pet owner.
Hopefully your pup should be as happy with the results as Leo was. Merry Christmas and hope you have a wonderful time with all your two and four legged loved ones.
